If you are distributing your product as freeware, shareware, open source etc. we can help you have your software localized and the accompanying documentation, web site, etc. translated to many languages. Read more about us... Why should I localize my software? Close to 50% of all Apple Macintosh computers are sold outside the US. Taking in account English speaking countries as Canada, the UK, Australia etc. this leaves still an estimated 30-40% of the installed user base using other languages than English as their main language of communication. Even if many of these users may have some knowledge of English, they are still using another localization of Mac OS X. If you are distributing your software exclusively in English you might miss a third of potential users. Localizing your software means you might reach all of them. How can maclocalization.org help me? Localization and translation are both expensive and time-consuming. From our experience a developer of non-commercial software doesn't have the resources to have this done by a localization company. While some developers have their software localized to some languages, this approach is difficult and depends on the developers luck of finding good and reliable people to help him with localization and translation. Many developers are turned off by the prospect of even more work and especially work that is not familiar to them. This is where maclocalization.org comes in, with our background in translation, localization and project management we can assist you all the way during the process. We maintain a database of localizers, translators, testers and other professionals to make sure that any task that we take on is done in the best possible way. How can I compensate the people working on my project? For one, with money, any amount will be welcome, then e.g. with licenses for the software you are developing. If you are selling shareware licences, you can give the team a share of the foreign language sales. Whatever comes to your mind, just let us know about your ideas. How do I get started with localizing my software? We are still working on our new website where you will be able to submit your project online. Until the launch of the new site, please e-mail us with details regarding your project. If you are developing commercial software and would like to receive a quote for localization of your software and/or translation of documentation, web sites, marketing materials etc. please e-mail or visit maclocalization.com. |
