contribute to maclocalization.org Localization and translation of Mac OS X software |
|||||||||
|
maclocalization.org is a non-profit organization with the aim of assisting developers of non-commercial software. If you wish to help in this effort please read on. Why would you help? If you are passionate about Macs as we are then we don't need to persuade you. What can you do? We are always in need of people willing to help. This includes localizers, translators, web programmers, DTP people, testers and the list is not exhaustive. If you wish to join us please check the profiles and requirements. How much money can you make helping here? Basically, maclocalization.org provides free or very affordable localization and translation services to developers of non-commercial software for Mac OS X. This means we do not charge for the work done on the projects, but the developers are free to offer either a financial compensation or licences for their software etc. When we receive any commercial projects we will preferably hire people that have been working on non-profit projects. Do you need any specific software/hardware? This will depend on what you will be doing. It is highly desirable that you have experience with Apple Macintosh computers and even more that you are working on one. Most of the projects we do require the latest version of Jaguar to be used. The software used for string extraction is AppleGlot 3, which is available for free from Apple. You will also need to have the most recent version of the DeveloperTools installed (also freely available from Apple). If you are working with a Windows based system, there will still be some things you can do. If you have CAT (computer aided translation) tools you are more than welcome. |
